WHO WE ARE...

Cham Tse Ling meaning Land of Love and Compassion is the name of our Association given by our Guru. We are one of the hundreds of regional dharma centres on this planet that are affiliated to the central Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) founded by two most beloved lamas - Lama Thubten Yeshe (1935-84) and His heart disciple, Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche in 1975. Dedicated to preserving and transmitting the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, the Foundation has experienced considerable support and success in providing an array of dharma activities with Lamas' sole aim of benefiting all sentient beings. With the kind approval of the spiritual director of the Foundation - most respectable Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the centre in Hong Kong was established in 1989 and was named Mahayana Buddhist Association (CHAM TSE LING). We are a government registered non-profit-making religious community.

WHAT WE DO...

To realise Lamas' grand aim, we provide the best we can with our limited resources and a tight budget the following activities:

Programs of Teaching
On a weekly basis, teaching is held twice in the evening by resident teachers - usually geshes of the Gelugpa Tradition we invite from India and Nepal. All and sundry are welcome. Other programs of teaching upon request are also common features.
(Click here for the current programs of teaching.)

Meditation Class / Discussion Session
It is held once a week under the guidance of our centre spiritual program co-ordinator.

Pujas
Guru Pujas and Green Tara Puja are held monthly.

Animal Liberation
It is a large-scale animal liberation organised four times a year. Lama Zopa Rinpoche said, "It [animal liberation] is a way of involving other people in doing something to generate some compassion and to collect merit. It's a social gathering, but liberating the animals enables everyone to sincerely do an action from their heart for others."

Retreat & Initiation
They are held periodically and are usually honoured by the presence of Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Newsletter
Newsletter is released regularly to inform members about the centre's activities, Lama Zopa Rinpoche's latest news, special events, puja dates and so on. A special feature of the newsletter is a two-page-teaching which allows members to get in touch with Dharma even if they are unable to attend teachings regularly.

Other Services
It is incumbent upon us as an affiliated member to help in fulfilling Lamas' vision where need be. At the present moment, what is uppermost in mind is the Maitreya Project where all centres join hands to make it a reality.
